For Envoy, a firm that provides companies with analytics and insights on their physical workspaces, in-office attendance is key to the business model. During the pandemic, Envoy developed a product that helped offices monitor Covid-19 tests, vaccinations, and safety guidelines as they brought workers back into the workplace.
After spending several years helping their customers navigate the return to office (RTO), Envoy decided to call its own approximately 250-person staff back into the office. VP of People Jacqueline Sharma admits “there were big, big feelings about” the policy, but told HR Brew she sees it as part and parcel of Envoy’s work. “We depend on people being in an office, so we really need our employees to believe in that mission,” Sharma said.
Envoy has tried several approaches to get workers to adhere to the RTO policy. Some have fallen under the “carrot” category, while one could be considered a “stick”: Tying office attendance to performance reviews.

Docs have been the same thing for far too long. Canva Docs aren’t like the other docs. Here’s why.
For starters (and it’s a biggie), they have a built-in AI text generator powered by OpenAI. Simply start with a prompt and watch copy appear in seconds. It can generate job descriptions, offer letters, hiring docs—you name it. Generate your draft, tweak, and…done.
Canva Docs are visual. You can grab readers’ attention with images, graphics, charts, tables, and videos playable right in the doc. Docs don’t have to be just words on a white page.
Plus, Canva Docs play nice with other Canva programs. Transform a Canva Whiteboard brainstorm into a Canva Doc with a click. Need to present a doc? Easy. Turn it into a Canva Presentation in seconds.
Try Canva Docs with the built-in AI text generator—and do more with docs.

Many moons ago, the blue checkmark was a coveted badge on a popular social media platform with a cute bird mascot. That was a simpler time. The landscape has since been upended by an eccentric billionaire, but back when humans “tweeted,” the blue checkmark noted to other users that the person communicating on the platform was indeed who they said they were.
Popular business and employment-focused social media platform LinkedIn rolled out a verification program last year. Professional users could verify their identity using Clear Secure, Microsoft’s Entra, or with work email addresses from thousands of companies.
This week, LinkedIn announced another iteration to its verification program, this time to address a growing issue in the digital talent acquisition space: job scams. Recruiters using the platform can soon have a “Verified Recruiter” badge on their InMail messages and their profile, so job-seekers can trust the information they’re receiving.
Zoom out. The move comes as job scams continue to afflict job-seekers and recruiters alike.

In his forthcoming book, The Mentally Strong Leader: Build the Habits to Productively Regulate Your Emotions, Thoughts, and Behaviors, to be released on May 7, Mautz offers habits and tools to promote emotion regulation at work.
