Remote, a platform that helps employers manage global workforces, first gained prominence during the Covid-19 pandemic as an employer of record (EOR) service. It’s now seeking to deepen its footprint in the US market, one of the company’s top revenue drivers, Job van der Voort, co-founder and CEO at Remote, told HR Brew.
US expansion. Remote launched in January 2019, shortly before the global shift to remote work prompted more HR teams to seek talent outside of the state or country where they’re based. Companies that didn’t have the infrastructure to hire talent internationally looked to EORs, which act as a legal entity employing workers on behalf of a business, overseeing payroll, taxes, and benefits. Remote announced a Series C fundraising round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 in 2022, which resulted in $300 million worth of investments at a $3 billion valuation.
Up until now, the majority of Remote’s customers—which includes software development firm Seaplane and media production company Shootsta—have been drawn to the company’s EOR services, according to van der Voort. But since most of the company’s business comes from the US, Remote decided to focus on developing additional products catered to employers hiring US-based employees.
One-stop shop. With the expansion, “We want to offer everything you need to be able to function in the US,” van der Voort said.

HR pros are preparing for a busy spring of recruiting, ManpowerGroup’s latest employment outlook survey, released on March 12, showed.
The Q2 US net employment outlook—measured by subtracting the percentage of employers that expect to reduce staff from the percentage planning to hire—increased by 4% YOY to over 34%, according to a survey of 6,000 US firms, part of the company’s global survey of 40,000 respondents. Almost one-half (48%) of US employers surveyed planned to add staff in Q2, while 14% expected layoffs and 33% didn’t anticipate staffing changes.
Zoom out. HR pros looking to fill open positions will have to contend with a job market in which many employees aren’t actively looking for new opportunities, HR Brew previously reported. The rate at which US workers voluntarily quit their jobs fell to 2.1% in January, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ latest Job Openings and Labor Turnover Summary, the lowest level since August 2020.
Employers looking to hire should prioritize flexible work arrangements and work-life balance, Rajesh Namboothiry, North America SVP of delivery transformation and strategy at ManpowerGroup, said.

Recruiting and applicant tracking system (ATS) software provider iCIMS is partnering with ZipRecruiter, an online employment marketplace, to improve the recruitment process and help TA pros hire faster.
Talent pros using iCIMS Apply Network will now be able to tap into ZipRecruiter’s network of 12 million weekly job-seekers. “One of the best things we can do to get people hired is to reduce the friction from the time that they are aware of an open requisition to the time that the recruiter and the candidate are actually engaging and having a meaningful conversation,” Matt Plummer, SVP of product strategy at ZipRecruiter, told HR Brew.
TA professionals can activate the integration in their iCIMS Apply interface, and direct job openings right to ZipRecruiter. ZipRecruiter job-seekers can use their existing profile to apply for the job. The partnership addresses “job-seeker drop-off,” when applicants abandon an application after having to go to another site and reenter information they’ve already submitted.
Zoom out. The new partnership between ZipRecruiter and iCIMS reflects a growing effort to build seamless integrations across systems, helping to shrink the number of logins and open tabs on the talent professional’s desktop.
