“You do you.” How often do you hear this phrase at work?
Employees at Exos hear it every Friday. In May 2023, the corporate wellness company launched a six-month, four-day workweek pilot program, during which its roughly 3,000 employees were able to choose how they spent their Fridays. Greg Hill, Exos’ chief people officer, told HR Brew the initiative was dubbed, “You Do You Fridays.”
As more companies implement four-day workweeks, or offer flexibility in how employees work on Fridays, leaders have noticed some surprising benefits, including improved productivity and mental and physical health, according to the World Economic Forum.
Since the Phoenix, Arizona-based company’s culture hinges on wellness, Hill said it felt natural to test out a shortened workweek. “We had tried half-day Fridays, summer Fridays, quiet Fridays,” Hill said, but “in a client/customer service business, it wasn’t working.” So, the company leaned into flexibility. “As long as you’re not interacting with other teammates within Exos, literally do you.”

President Biden, along with the Department of Labor (DOL), last week released a new set of AI principles to guide employers as more companies look to deploy AI in the workplace.
The recommendations are designed to protect workers and ensure they’ve got a “seat at the table” when businesses are determining how the technology will be used and developed. HR leaders can look to the principles as a baseline for ethical AI use.
“They are viewed as best practices. They are not viewed as actual law at this present moment,” said Eric Reicin, president of BBB National Programs, a nonprofit organization that oversees a number of independent self-regulatory programs, including its own program on responsible AI use in hiring and recruiting.
Zoom out. Employers, when considering what automation and AI technologies to bring to the workplace, should consider a myriad of factors—and the considerations, like the technology, are ever growing. The Biden administration’s non-binding guidance provides another offering of considerations.

Shoes aren’t one-size-fits-all—and employee training shouldn’t be either. That’s why Diversio, a DE&I analytics platform that helps organizations identify internal cultural issues, recently announced its acquisition of CCDI Consulting, a DE&I training company, to help companies provide targeted, data-driven DE&I education, according to a press release.
Since its founding in 2018, Toronto-based Diversio has shared culture, engagement, diversity, and inclusion data with organizations. It has also offered DE&I benchmarking, resources, and recommendations, but hasn’t provided DE&I education or training.
“We’ve had great success on the data side,” Laura McGee, founder and CEO of Diversio, told HR Brew. “But we kept getting feedback from clients, like, ‘We want training. We want education. We want consultative support.’”
That’s just what CCDI Consulting has offered its clients.
