The move comes as HCM platforms go all in on agentic for recruiting and HR.

In the future that Arsham Ghahramani predicts, job seekers applying to large-scale enterprise companies might never speak to a recruiter…or any human for that matter. That’s because Ghahramani is designing agentic recruiting solutions that could help solve for a number of pain points in the hiring process.
Ghahramani founded and runs the AI interviewing software platform Ribbon. This month Dayforce closed on a deal to acquire the recruiting startup and add its signature conversational AI voice and video interviews to the Dayforce suite, Ghahramani confirmed with HR Brew.
Ribbon’s AI interviewer conducts two-way conversations with candidates any time, any place. HR Brew previously reported the tech is especially focused on high-turnover industries, such as manufacturing, healthcare, food service, and retail, and allows candidates to showcase their skills and experiences with the recruitment team during hours that fit into their life and schedule. Applicants don’t need to find time between 9am and 5pm to be considered.
“If you give the option for people to interview at any time of day, they’ll take it up, and you can get them a job faster,” Ghahramani told HR Brew last week as the ink was still wet on the deal. “It just so turns out that on the company side—the employer side—they also hire people more efficiently.”
The system scores and summarizes interviews, providing insights to the TA team, and offers feedback to candidates. Ghahramani also pointed to Ribbon’s other agentic offerings like its AI-powered sourcing and talent rediscovery solution as meaningful additions to the Dayforce platform.
“We have a really exciting opportunity here to be the hiring part of the recruitment engine,” he said.
Ribbon’s CEO told HR Brew the company’s customer set was well aligned with those on the Dayforce platform, and pointed to their shared clients. He called the partnership “an almost perfect” match for the types of roles (high-volume, frontline, hourly) “where you see the biggest need for an AI interviewer.”
Dayforce announced the plans late last month ahead of the HR Tech conference and its own customer event, Dayforce Discover, both in Las Vegas. Financial terms and a closing date were not disclosed.
As HR teams look for AI-powered HR and TA solutions to help streamline processes across entire workflows, vendors are moving to develop agentic solutions that can handle more and more of that workflow.
The Ribbon acquisition comes as Dayforce bets big on agentic workflows. Last week, Dayforce also announced the launch of its new Agentic HCM Platform, as “a single, trusted foundation with native AI woven throughout,” reshaping how its customers and their employees interact with Dayforce platform.
Ghahramani told HR Brew customers can expect a deeper integration of the Ribbon tech into the recruiting offerings on the Dayforce platform, “everywhere where it makes sense within the product for us to be, we will be there.”
