Summer is right around the corner. While many folks head to Orlando, Florida to delight in the amusements of Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, HR Brew is on its way to the sunshine state for a different pastime: the annual Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) conference.
Over 25,000 people pros are expected to descend upon the Orange County Convention Center from June 15–19 to attend sessions, hit the expo floor, network with industry peers, and catch a glimpse of a few celebrities. This reporter is particularly excited to lay eyes on the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Christina Aguilera, James Marsden, and Terry Crews.
When I’m not tracking down the stars of Jury Duty and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, I’ll be looking to hear how HR pros are grappling with the most pressing issues facing their industry.
Well, well, wellness. As HR Brew’s resident strategy reporter, I’m curious to hear how HR leaders are thinking about employee well-being right now. There are many factors impacting employee well-being, from AI transformation to economic uncertainty, and I’m looking forward to sitting in on the sessions that zero in on these issues and their impact on recruitment and retention.
Benefits, come one, come all. Rising healthcare costs are putting pressure on HR pros. So it’s no wonder a number of sessions will be geared toward benefits strategy and communication. I’m curious to hear how HR pros can do more with less, and what is and isn’t working.
The man AI, the myth, the legend. HR pros can’t stop talking about how AI is changing the workplace. And I can’t stop thinking about the sessions focused on how HR pros are using AI agents, and the strategies they can employ to encourage employee AI usage and workforce transformation.
Let me know if you’re heading to Orlando too by emailing [email protected] or connecting on LinkedIn. And if you see me there, feel free to say hello! Like your office’s token Gen Zer, you’ll recognize me by the white New Balances balancing out my business casual attire.
